Extended-Hours Liquor License Process
Kansas City’s Regulated Industries Division announces that the City of Kansas City, Missouri, is now accepting applications for a temporary extended-hours liquor license allowing operation until 5:00 a.m. This is only for businesses operating in entertainment districts during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, June 11 through July 19, 2026.
Eligible Areas
Applications are limited to licensed establishments located within the following designated areas:
- Central District Boundaries
- North - the river
- East - Cleveland Ave
- West - Broadway Blvd
- South - Linwood Blvd
- Central Business District Extension Boundaries
- North - the river
- East - Broadway Blvd
- West - State Line Rd
- South - the railroad
- Westport Boundaries
- North - 39th St
- East - Baltimore Ave
- West - Clark from 39th St. to approx. 41st St.; Southwest Trafficway from 41st St to 43rd St
- South - 43rd St
- Country Club Plaza Boundaries
- North - 46th St
- East - Mill Street Pkwy
- West - Summit Street
- South - Ward Pkwy (North Side)
- Zona Rosa-Barry Road Corridor Boundaries
- North - 152 Hwy
- East - N Ambassador/N. St. Clair
- West - N. Congress
- South - NW 79th St
Operating Requirements
Approved establishments may operate extended hours; however:
- Businesses must close from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
- Alcohol may not be sold, served, or consumed during this closure period
Special License Requirement
Businesses seeking to operate beyond standard hours must apply for and receive approval of a special World Cup extended-hours license. Businesses can apply for a license here.
License:
- Are valid only from June 11 through July 19, 2026
- Apply only to approved businesses within designated areas
- Require full compliance with all City, State, and local regulations
Application Requirements
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be located within an eligible district
- Hold a current Liquor by the Drink license in good standing
- Complete all application questions in full
- Submit a security plan for review and approval by both the City of Kansas City and the Kansas City Police Department
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations throughout the period
Incomplete applications may be denied.

Other Licensed Establishments
All other Full Retail Liquor by the Drink license holders citywide may operate until 3:00 a.m. without applying for a temporary extended-hours liquor license. These establishments remain subject to all applicable laws and may face enforcement action, including fines, suspension, or revocation, for any violations.
